| Hardware Specifications for Server and Workstations |

If you have any questions about these specifications do not hesitate to contact us, we are happy to work closely with any nominated consultant or vendor.
Essentials
Access
We require access to your server to enable us to update and support you. This is best arranged by installing PC Anywhere 10.5 on your server. The server must be connected to the Internet via an appropriately secure firewall on a static IP. The connection should be DSL (128K) or faster.
Anti Virus Software
A current version of Anti Virus software (under a subscription service) should be installed on all computers and run as part of a regular routine.
Backup
A comprehensive backup system should be running on the server. A complete backup should be taken on regular (if not on daily) basis. Incremental backups should be taken every day if a full backup has not taken place. Backups should be removed off site.
Printing
If you wish to print HCFA or UB92 forms a laser jet printer will be required. Most Ink Jet printers will not work.
Hard Disk Space (server)
All patient information is stored on the server(s). Generally the patient information will not require more than 4GB. However if you wish to store photos this may change radically. If a large amount of photos are to be stored we suggest a separate server specifically to store them.
Minimum Hardware Recommendations
Dedicated Server
Pentium III 500Mhz (IV preferred), 256MB RAM (1Gb preferred), 4GB spare hard disk space, high speed internet connection. Advantage database server can run on Novell, Windows or Linux. Windows is preferred. If the server is running other software apart from our Advantage software. The server needs to be correspondingly more powerful.
Image Server
Images can be stored on the same server as long as there is sufficient hard drive space. Calculation of required space is highly dependant on the resolution of images and how fast they are acquired. Images roughly take between 200k and 600k compressed at a reasonable quality. They may however be larger.
Workstation
Pentium II, III or IV 300Mhz (III or higher preferred), 128MB RAM (512K plus preferred), 200Mb spare hard disk space, MS Office is required for letter and quote writing.
Operating Software
All current Microsoft operating systems are also supported by Lynx Cosmetisoft. For servers 2000 and 2003 server are preferred but not essential. Windows 98 and Windows Me are NOT supported. |
